Direct Tangem hardware wallet integration is supported at v1.0.1. Setup, transaction signing, and the path for migrated DIONE.

What this article covers
For about 18 months after Odyssey Chain mainnet (November 2024), Tangem cardholders had limited options for accessing their migrated DIONE. The Tangem app didn't include Odyssey Chain in its built-in network list, and direct integration with the DIONE ecosystem was pending.
That gap is now closed. DIONE Wallet v1.0.1 ships with direct Tangem support — connect your Tangem card to DIONE Wallet, sign Odyssey Chain transactions through the card, and your migrated DIONE is fully accessible without requiring seed phrase export.
This article walks through setup. If you're a Tangem holder who's been waiting since 2024, this is the resolution.
Step 1 — Confirm your Tangem card is compatible
DIONE Wallet's Tangem integration uses Tangem's standard NFC pairing protocol. Cards in the Tangem Wallet 2.0 product line and later are compatible. Some older Tangem cards (early single-card products from 2020-2022) may have limitations.
Quick compatibility check:
- Open the Tangem app
- Scan your card
- In card settings, look for "External wallet pairing" or equivalent option
If the option exists, your card is compatible with the direct integration. If not, see Step 5 for the seed-phrase path.
Step 2 — Install DIONE Wallet
Download DIONE Wallet only from dionewallet.com/download or our verified GitHub Releases page (where installer binaries are mirrored). The team will never DM you a download link.
Run the installer. On first launch, you'll see two paths:
- Create new wallet — generates a fresh seed phrase
- Connect hardware wallet — pairs an existing hardware wallet
Choose Connect hardware wallet.
Step 3 — Pair your Tangem card
DIONE Wallet shows the supported hardware wallet options: Ledger, Trezor, Tangem.
- Select Tangem
- The wallet displays a pairing screen with NFC instructions
- On a desktop with NFC reader: tap your Tangem card to the reader
- On a desktop without NFC reader: a QR code appears — open the Tangem app on your phone, scan the QR code, then tap your card to your phone to authorize the pairing
- Confirm the pairing in the Tangem app
- DIONE Wallet recognizes the card and displays the connected address
Your 0x... address is the same one you've been using in the Tangem app for compatible chains. Odyssey Chain is now visible from DIONE Wallet at that address.
Step 4 — Verify your migrated DIONE
After pairing, DIONE Wallet syncs with Odyssey Chain and displays your balance.
If you held DIONE as ERC-20 before November 2024, your migrated balance should appear immediately — the migration was 1:1 to the same address derived from your Tangem card.
If the balance shows zero but you remember holding DIONE pre-mainnet:
- Open odysseyscan.com and paste the address from your Tangem card
- Confirm what's actually on-chain
- If OdysseyScan shows DIONE but DIONE Wallet shows zero, the issue is sync — refresh the wallet or reconnect
For full migration troubleshooting, see How to Migrate DIONE.
Step 5 — Alternative path for older cards
If your Tangem card doesn't support the direct NFC pairing flow in Step 3, we recommend against typing your card's recovery phrase into DIONE Wallet (or any other app). Moving a seed phrase between two separate applications means the same private key now exists in two codebases — a bug or compromise in either one exposes both.
The safer alternative:
- In DIONE Wallet, choose Create new wallet to generate a fresh, DIONE-Wallet-only seed phrase
- Use the Tangem app itself to send your DIONE balance on-chain to your new DIONE Wallet address
- Confirm the balance arrives in DIONE Wallet
This costs a small on-chain transaction fee but keeps your Tangem card's original key isolated to the Tangem app, and DIONE Wallet's key isolated to DIONE Wallet. Most users then use DIONE Wallet for active operations and keep the Tangem card as a separate cold-storage backup.
Step 6 — Signing transactions
Once paired, every Odyssey Chain transaction you initiate in DIONE Wallet routes to the Tangem card for signing.
For sending DIONE or interacting with a dApp:
- Initiate the transaction in DIONE Wallet (e.g., click Send, fill in destination + amount)
- Review the transaction details
- DIONE Wallet prompts: "Tap Tangem card to sign"
- Tap the card to your phone (if paired via mobile) or NFC reader (if paired directly to desktop)
- The card signs internally; the signed transaction broadcasts to Odyssey Chain
- Confirmation appears in DIONE Wallet within seconds
Private keys never leave the Tangem card. DIONE Wallet is the UI; the card is the signing authority.
FAQ
Do I need to reset my Tangem card to use DIONE Wallet?
No. DIONE Wallet pairs with your existing card without modifying its setup. Your other chain balances in the Tangem app continue to work unchanged.
Can I still use the Tangem app for other chains?
Yes. The Tangem app's supported network list is updated by Tangem and covers Bitcoin, Ethereum, and many other chains. DIONE Wallet handles Odyssey Chain specifically. Both apps coexist using the same card.
What if I lose my Tangem card?
If you have your backup card (most modern Tangem setups include 2-3 cards as backups), use the backup card following the same Tangem pairing flow. If you don't have a backup card, use the Tangem app to send your balance on-chain to a fresh DIONE Wallet address before the card becomes inaccessible — see Step 5. If neither applies — Tangem cards without seed backup and no spare are designed to be unrecoverable.
Does DIONE Wallet store my Tangem private keys?
No. The keys never leave the card. DIONE Wallet stores the public address, transaction history, and metadata locally; signing requests route to the card via NFC for each transaction.
Can I stake DIONE from a Tangem-paired wallet?
Yes. Staking works the same as with any DIONE Wallet setup — pick a validator, enter the amount, sign the delegation transaction. The Tangem card signs the staking transaction; rewards accrue to your Odyssey Chain address. See [How to Stake DIONE](/learn/how-to-stake-dione-coin/).
Is direct Tangem support new?
Yes. Direct integration shipped with DIONE Wallet v1.0.1 in 2026. Before that, Tangem holders had limited options for accessing their migrated DIONE. The Step 5 seed-phrase path was the workaround during that period; it remains available for older cards.
Does pairing with DIONE Wallet affect my Tangem app data?
No. The card's stored data (chain balances visible in the Tangem app, transaction history, address book) remains unchanged. DIONE Wallet adds Odyssey Chain visibility on top of what the Tangem app already shows.
Can I use Tangem with MetaMask for Odyssey Chain instead?
MetaMask doesn't have native Tangem hardware wallet integration. You can connect Tangem to MetaMask through the Tangem app's WalletConnect support, which routes signing through the card via the Tangem app. Functional but adds steps. DIONE Wallet's direct Tangem integration is purpose-built for the Odyssey workflow. *See also: [How to Migrate DIONE](/learn/how-to-migrate-dione-from-erc20-to-odyssey/) · [How to Stake DIONE](/learn/how-to-stake-dione-coin/) · [Türkçe: DIONE Cüzdanı Tangem Kart ile Kullanma](/tr/learn/dione-cuzdani-tangem-rehberi) · [/security](/security) · [/migration](/migration).
